I'm still working meal-by-meal without a menu plan for the week and I'm going a little nuts as a result. I haven't had time to think about what to do with all my produce yet. Hopefully tomorrow.
Tonight I steamed some local artichokes (Watsonville, CA) and served them with Meyer lemon butter. Usually we're mayo folks, but the jarred stuff wasn't local and I didn't feel like making any. Along side those we had quickly stir-fried snow peas with garlic and baguette with a nutty, spicy spread made by a friend (our exemptions). We also had some leftover potato salad from lunch.
Hopefully, by tomorrow morning I will have my menu-planning act together...and will also have time to run out for fresh fish.

Mmmm ... to eat local in CA. It would NOT be the same here in Pittsburgh.

I have to make artichokes, I haven't in such a long time. Are they in season now? Of course they aren't grown locally so I don't know when they are in season...but the ones in the produce dept have been looking really nice the past couple of weeks.

Yum! Two of my favorites.

I literally grew up on these two vegetables. They were among the few that I would eat. I was very picky, but for some reason artichokes (of all things!) never bothered me. I haven't heard of them being served with mayo, I usually go with some drawn butter.
