HAPPY 2006!

Happy New Year to everyone from my sick bed. I celebrated New Year's by downing some NyQuil and crawling into bed at 9:30. I woke up with my three-year-old's feet wedged under my ass (for warmth, no doubt). At some point in the wee hours of the morning she managed to find her way into our bed. Her usual thing.

We are all still in our pajamas—except Bunny, of course. She pops out of bed every morning saying, "I have to get dressed!" Then scampers off to put on a dress. Today she choose one 2 sizes too small, but no matter. She keeps asking me why Wallie is still in her jammies.

Last night was the first night we put both girls to sleep in the same room. A daunting prospect since in Portland the girls had their own rooms. We've been putting Bunny to bed in our bed and then transfering her into Wallie's room when we go to bed. I thought they would surely keep each other up chatting, but they didn't. They went right to bed. They were wiped out from our early celebration.

We spent the evening at a friends' house doing the east coast celebration thing. We shared some good food and good conversation with old friends, and watched the kids run around together, thick as thieves. Friend's three year old has an abundance of dress-up princess clothes so Bunny was in 7th heaven. She started out as Cinderella then transformed herself into Snow White, Pochontas, and Jasmine in the span of three hours. The kids ended the night all snuggled together under blankets watching Madeline.

So much has changed, and yet, so much has stayed the same since we left. Kids are older, mamas are cutely pregnant again, life goes on. There were lots of hugs, lots of smiles, and we fell back into our old life as if we had never left.

In 2006, I can't wait to reconnect with old friends and get to know some new friends. It's going to be the best year ever.

Welcome back and hope to meet you in person one day! Happy New Year!

It sounds as though our evenings were very similar - as well as our mornings with little girls that have to put on dresses in the early AM...

I was feeling a bit blue last night about having a rather boring family-style new years eve watching kids run around and finding myself dead tired by 10:00... Reading your post makes me realize it's not all bad being a parent with a young child. It's just a different kind of fun, eh?

well happy new year and i hope you feel better soon!

Hope you feel better, and that 2006 brings you all you hope!

Man. Every blogging mom I *know* has been sick this week. Including me. Are we passing it around? Quick, cough on the screen and I'll let you know if I get sick again.

Happy New Year, Mama! All the best to you and your family. Hope you're feeling better!
