No on Prop. 85: A teenager's take on the issue
Thanks for hanging in there with me as I blog this important issue through next Tuesday. 11% of voters are undecided on Prop. 85. We need to convince them to vote, and vote "No!" (I'm convincing as fast as my fingers can type.)
Again, pro-choice bloggers: please blog this issue. Even if you aren't in California, even if you think no one reads your blog, please do it. An undecided voter searching for information on Prop. 85 will come across your post. Yours might be the one that convinces her/him to vote no.

What does a real, live teenager have to say about Prop. 85? Please read this Letter to the Editor from the San Francisco Chronicle, dated Saturday, November 4, 2006. (Re-printed exactly as it was published.)
Editor—I'm writing to you to explain why your readers should vote against Proposition 85. Though some people think this proposition will bring families together in order to face a difficult decision, in reality it can put girls in dangerous situation. Abortion is a volatile subject and could push already unstable parents beyond the limits of self control, causing them to inflict emotional and/or physical harm. Only the daughter would know if this information would harm them.
The current system works perfectly well. Girls who want to tell their parents do just that, and girls who feel that their parents shouldn't be told are free to keep it from them. The only people who complain about this system are the parents who are not being told. If your daughter doesn't feel like she can talk to you about this, that is your own fault and you should think of all the girls this will affect negatively. Vote no on Proposition 85.

While I'm not a California voter, this is awesome that you're doing this. Good on you, lady. Use that soapbox!

My post's up :-)
Please be warned, I'm pretty free with profanity...
I'm hoping 85 loses by a wide margin, though I know it's only a matter of time before these folks try to get us to okey-doke another version. I wish they'd just give up already!
