No American Idol Re-Cap

My fracking DVR didn't record American Idol while I was at dinner! I cannot believe I missed the girls including my favorite (this joke will never get old) Antonella Barba!

We need to have an American Idol open thread!  You!  Tell me everything that happened last night!  And don't miss even the tiniest of details.  You know I live for the tiny details!

Antonella SUCKED! Need I say more? She has GOT TO GO! Haley was close to awful... she will also be gone tonight!

Loved, loved, loved Lakesha, Stephanie, Sabrina and Melinda. They are by far the best singers in this competition! Man, can they sing.

My guess is that it will come down to Melinda and Lakesha at the end (just an early prediction).

But, when the truth be told, Melinda Doolittle surpassed everyone of them with her awesome rendition of W-O-M-A-N.

My take -

Sabrina has a great voice and I loved her dress but she looks like a man impersonating Gloria Estefan and it just throws me off.

Haley - it sounded like the talent competition at the Miss Iowa pageant. (But girl can have some attitude with the judges, which was definitely not pageant friendly). Bad song choice. Buh Bye.

Fat girls (myself included) need to avoid satin. I’m looking in your direction Lakesha. And why do they jump all over some people (Stephanie) for doing a dead-on Chaka Khan, but not Lakesha for doing a dead-on Whitney? Kudos for her little joking around bit with Ryan because she hasnt shown any personality until now and she will need to win America over with more than just her kick-ass pipes.

Stephanie looks like a winner and has a great voice. I think she is top 4 overall. She looks more like an Idol than Lakesha or Melinda.

Melinda – sing something from this millennium, please. And stop doing the “Wow, you really think I can sing???!” look when you get your glowing feedback. You knew you had the chops when you tried out for American Idol so stop acting like you ended up on stage by accident. I do love you though.

Antonella - enough already. I was glad Simon finally addressed her issues with the press instead of everyone pretending it never happened, but her voice is just OK. Its time for her to check out and go do her well-deserved Maxxim spread.

Gina rocked it out last night. I really, really like her, but I dont see American picking her over the big three (L,S and M). If she gets voted out before Antonella and Haley, then there is no justice. But I didnt vote so I am not qualified to blame.

oh geeze, as much as we all love antonella, haley really gave her a run for her money in the sucking department. along with her sequined halter top, all she needed was a baton to twirl.

gina was fine, but seemed to be trying a little too hard to be the "rocker girl" as my mom called her, and Lord knows if my mom is calling you a rocker girl, you've got some work to do.

melinda and lakisha, i mean come on. they are the only two that i don't have second-hand embarrassment for on a regular basis. melinda was especially fun last night singing w-o-m-a-n. and simon called her a "tiger".

Sabrina: That girl is too young for Botox, but there is some weird shiny puffy thing going on with her face that reminded me of Nicole Kidman at the Oscars, so I dunno. Her song? I don't remember.

Stephanie: I liked her dress. It was flattering and interesting. Sorry, but nobody should attempt Chaka but Chaka. There outta be a law.

Haley (aka what's her name): Pageant Girl on a cruise ship. I fell asleep during her song.

Antonella: I actually liked her in the auditions when she was up against her evil Barbie BFF. She said, "I don't try to be like anyone else, and they don't try to be like me" to which Simon said, "Why would they want to be?" Simon, you took the snark right out of my mouth. I am probably the only person in the world who doesn't like Corinne Bailey Rae, so Antonella singing one of her songs was nails on a chalkboard to me.

LaKisha: I don't think she sounds like Whitney or was trying to copy her...the arrangement was pretty much the same, but I love the texture in her voice. Her mom and auntie were hilarious.

Melinda: I heart Melinda. I am ready to buy her record right now. I like her goofiness and "aw shucks" demeanor. I hope she doesn't turn out to be a bitch like Chris Daughtry in the later rounds.

Gina: Too screechy-screamy, but she sold the rocker thing. A little too bar cover band-ish to me, but I hope she stays a while.

Jordin: I think she is adorable, but I have no idea what she sang.

I fear that if the rabid Fantonellas get their way, Sabrina or Jordin and Haley go home this week.
