Britney Spears at the VMAs: Comeback? Um, yeah, no.
I'm surprised Britney could even stand up with all that Ativ@n in her system, let alone "perform." I think Sarah Silverman summed it up best:
"Wow. She is amazing. She is 25-years-old and she's already accomplished everything she's going to accomplish in her life. It's mind blowing."
Or, you know, horrible.

Really funny live blog over at Jezebel.

So sad for her. It was horrible. She looked horrible. Did she even practice? Did she think that it WAS practice. Horrible!!

Man, that Sarah Silverman quote is harsh!
Mostly likely true, yet harsh.
I'm off to troll YouTube for a video of the debacle.

I missed it, so I think I'll head over to youtube also. Like I should be using valuable time to check out Britney. Don't tell anyone.

It was bad, I was uncomfortable watching it. Mamas don't let your babies grow up to be pop-stars!
Posted by: nap warden | September 10, 2007 at 06:23 AM
I watched it online as well. I was pretty dumbfounded by how ... lack-luster ... it really, really was. I expected more, even though I'm not a fan. At all.
And for the person who said Silverman's quote was harsh, LOL. That's TAME for something coming out of Silverman's mouth. She deserves a cookie for saying what the rest of us were thinking!

Oh tell me about it! The entire show was awful! As for Silverman, I don't think she's very funny, although that line was completely true. But the lines about her kids and the, um, gestures she made? They made me twitch in my seat.

Was she dancing or just kicking out her feet?
Posted by: hello insomnia | September 10, 2007 at 09:38 AM
That was as bad as my high school best friend lipsynching to Madonna during the "talent" show in 1986, giggling and primping all the way through it.
Where is Brit's Ken Pave? She desperately needs a main gay to get her on the right track and fix the weave tracks.

i just read something over at "a socialite's life" that showed a picture close up of her boots. looks like one of her heels broke. not really an excuse, cuz i think she would have sucked anyhow. but something was definitely not right with that girl.
Posted by: shel | September 10, 2007 at 01:12 PM
I missed it, but found the video of her performance on mtv.com. Wow. She looked tired and unsteady on her feet. A broken boot heel would explain a lot. I wonder if that's what it was and not her drug issues. ahem.

Scary. And I felt bad for her. Someone should have told her to not wear the bikini thingy. Ever again.
As for her performance, I recuse myself on that one, as i can't really see that much of a difference from her pre-partum days.
Yup,meow.

Two words: Train. Wreck. Get thee to rehab, Britney. This time, for real.

It looks to me that her stage entertainment career has ended when she was not able to keep her body shape after having two babies. So I feel for her. But I guess that is the nature of the show business.
Posted by: Holli | September 11, 2007 at 11:07 AM
Holy crap. I cannot believe people are railing on her body. I think she's a total mess personally and professionally, but I think her body looks great, especially after just having two babies one practically back-to-back. Jeezuz people. What is she supposed to look like?

What an awesome comback! LOL. For some reason, I really wanted her to kick ass, and actually expected that of her. I read rumors that Cris Angel was doing something magical with mirrors and stuff and was really looking foward to her performance. But, she fell on her face! I knew that she was going to lip synce, but I thought that she would at least know the words to her song. And, I agree with the above poster who called her out on her terrible hair weave!

I wrote a blog about Britney on Monday morning too. I must say, I was just horrified at her performance. I couldn't believe that with all that is out there right now about her, that she got up and performed. If I were her, and I've been known to be pretty competitive in my day, I would have tried to nail this performance to a T. What I love about Sarah Silverman is that she says what we all think. I hate to say it, but I would have been more harsh - that's if my thoughts could be heard! LOL
