Who's the boss? Me.

Overheard this weekend.

Bunny: Can I ride my scooter to the park?
Me: Yes... I mean...wait... I don't know. What did your father say?
Bunny: Did you say yes?
Me: No, I said, "What did your father say?"
Bunny: He said "no."
Me: Then no.
Bunny: But why?
Me: Because Papa said no, and if he said no, then it's no.
Bunny: No, but I'm asking you. You decide. You're in charge of this family, not Papa.

Smart as a whip, that one.

Excellent. You've trained her well, that one.

My daughters who are considerably older, say that about me. I say don't tell your father!
I also say, if your father says no, I do too, because we are a team. To ask one then ask the other for a different answer is a manipulation and wasn't/isn't allowed. Mine was really good at it. I barely kept a half a step ahead of her and I was a psych.nurse!

Fabulous, teach 'em early.

Funny! she knows who's boss! isn't parenting great? I've found that the "power" translates to other kids too. It's amazing! you say something and they automatically listen and it never ceases to throw me off---and then I'm like, "oh yeah, I'm the mom. That's right!"
It's the best!

Well said Bunny!

That's so darn cute!

It's nice to know they are listening!

Poor J. My parents were fond of the "If it's okay with Other Parent,it's okay with me" answer.

As long as she is clear!

As sweet and true as that is, you just made me dread the day when our nascent babblings turn into clear sentences. My power will be gone. Forever. Ugh.

very funny. thats who the boss is in all families
