Salmon Cakes Your Family Will Love
Here's another iPhone post on the go. I have to say, having this new gadget has changed my approach to blogging about food and dinners. If you hadn't noticed the iPhone posts you will when you see all the typos. (The texting sucks.)
These salmon cakes are made with:
- 2 cans of skinless, boneless salmon
- 3/4 can of cream of mushroom soup
- A squeeze of lemon
- 1/2 cup of fine breadcrumbs
- Freshly snipped dill
- Fresh ground pepper
Combine all of the above into a stiff mixture. Form into 8 patties and fry in olive oil until browned. Serve hot with lemon wedges.
Both of my girls loved this so much that they asked me to prepare it next week. Specifically "on the 19th." Kids will eat it.
It's not fancy, but you'll swear it was.

Oooh - you got the iphone! Isn't it fantastic? i heart my iphone. It's kind of like when we got our first TiVo - it changes the way you do things! (or I'm just a really big geek)

Oh those look so good!
I know my kids will eat them, they love salmon cakes -- of course we call them "Crabby Patties" -- we also call crab cakes that!

OMG - they make skinless and boneless canned salmon? (See how much I really pay attention while grocery shopping!)
Salmon cakes are my FAVORITE, and when I moved out of my parent's house when I was 21, salmon cakes where one of the first things I tried to make.
But when I opened the cheap can of salmon and saw all the bones and gristle and skin, I gagged and threw it in the trash and have never made it again. (That was 14 years ago.)
I'm not a squeamish person about food prep, but the sight of the yucks in that can will haunt me. (laughs)
You have no idea how happy you have made me! THANK YOU!

oh yum!!. growing up my grandma made Salmon Cakes & I loved them. Your recipe is just about the same, expect she always used Old Bay seasoning. I'm so going to have to fix some!! Sadly the hubby & daughter will only eat sashimi salmon or smoked. Have you had any experience freezing them & re-heating them??

yummy! we had these for dinner last night too. My mom always made them with eggs and crushed saltines instead of the soup and bread crumbs.

Thanks for posting the recipe. This sounds yummy & easy to make.

My mom used to make "salmon patties" out of canned salmon, crushed saltines and celery, and we'd all dip them in ketchup. (What can I say -- we're from the greater Pittsburgh area, where everyone dips everything in Heinz ketchup!) I look forward to trying your take on the salmon cake, as I can make them with gluten-free bread crumbs... yumm!

Hi, I just wanted to clarify, can you use canned salmon, or should it be fresh salmon steaks? It looks and sounds so yummy, thanks for the recipe.
