This is my grandmother who was by all accounts: fabulous. My mom and her friends often reminisce about her designer outfits, glittering jewels, how she was always well-put-together, and how she liked to have a cigarette with her cocktail.
She wasn't the kind of grandma who baked pies and wore aprons. She was a carouser. She liked to throw parties and fly from Honolulu to San Francisco for semi-annual shopping trips. She got her hair and nails done every Wednesday, and was never without her lipstick.
This photo was taken as part of a 40th birthday photo session. I have always loved looking at old photos of my grandmother because she was such a style icon. My 4-year-old—whose middle name is Flora after her great-grandmother—is already showing signs of her fabulosity.
Thanks for showing all of us how it's done, Grandma.

Stunning! How did we go from that to thinking wearing Sevens and a cami was dolled up?

Oh hon-naay, you *know* she probably smoked with a crystal-studded cigarette holder, one about a mile long.
